Micah, my 4 year old, loves it when I make cakes and his Uncle Tim. So when Uncle Tim's birthday came, he wanted to make his own cake for him. I let him choose the cake, frosting, candy, and do all the decorating. He did a really good job at his first cake. He loved telling everyone that he made it for Uncle Tim.
First he opened all the Kit Kats and got them ready! Try telling a four year old they can't eat the candy they are opening.
They he poured out the whoppers.
He had to make everything was lined up just perfectly.
Time to start frosting.
We had to switch to a spatula, after I caught Micah licking the knife.
Adding the Kit Kats.
Micah did an amazing job at lining all the Kit Kats perfectly. He left no gap and they were all straight.
Adding the Reese Pieces.
Now it is time for the Whoppers.
Micah and his masterpiece. He did a really good job!
I added a little ribbon, to hold the cake together.
Micah then added the Candles that he choose for the cake.
But that wasn't good enough, so we added 20 more to get the right amount. We had to have 33 and Micah counted twice to make sure there was.

Duff Tattoo Cake with Flower Power!
I have been wanting to try out some of Duff Goldman products. I just had not found a cake to work with them yet. I decided to make a cake for Jessie (my nephews girlfriend, I was told that she like animals and would love any kind of cake that I made for her. I knew then it was the perfect time to try out the Duff Tattoo's. I also wanted to try to make another Topsy Turvy cake. I knew that I was going to have to travel about two hours again; so this time I was going to assemble it at the destination.
The things I learned with this cake:
Duff tattoo's are cute, fun, and easy way to decorate a cake. On the other hand, they are not movable once they touch the cake an rip very easily. Make sure they are exactly where you want them, before attaching them to the cake.
Marshmallow Fondant does melt and it is a sticky mess when it does.
Learn the exact location of the party. This was for a family party. My sister-in-law thought that I knew the party was in the middle of the desert and that i was 100 degree out there. I though that we were going up in the mountains and that it would be in the 70's there.
Do not try assembly a Topsy Turvy cake in the middle of a desert in 100 degree weather. It will not work!
The cakes turned out cute as two separate cakes, but it would have been cuter as a whole cake. I am grateful that I brought extra decorations to able to still finish the cake, even with the circumstances. Jessica still loved the cake and that is all tat really mattered!
The picture are not the best, remember I was in the middle of the desert.

Micah's Thomas cake
My 4 year old Micah loves Thomas the Train. He talks now stop about train and is obsessed with everything about them. For the last year he has been talking about his birthday cake. He loved the Thomas cake i made last year and wanted another one. I really did not want to make the same cake that I had made twice before. After weeks of convincing, I finally got Micah to agree to a cake that was still Thomas, but different from the last Thomas cake, I had made. This cake was so much fun to make; Micah wanted to help with every little detail. It was the hit of the party!

Lady Bug Cake
A friend of mine asked if I would make her a birthday cake. She said that she loved Topsy Turvy cakes and lady bugs. She let me create anything I wanted. I had so much fun making this cake. I made a four major mistakes with this cake:
I made the ladybug out of fondant, instead of rice krispies; causing the ladybug to be too heavy.
I followed a new design for Topsy Turvy cakes, which did not require caving a hole to support the next layer of cake.
I assembled the cake before travel. Two hours was too long for this support system and design. The cake lasted almost the whole way. The bottom layer dowels fell from the weight, less than ten minutes from it destination.
I did not bring any extra supplies to fix the cake at the destination.
The cake was still delicious and everyone enjoyed eating it. Even with all the mistakes, I really loved this cake. It was so cute!

Zaden's Transformer Cake
My little nephew Zaden was turning 4. He is a huge Transformer fan. He didn't care what kind of cake it was as long as it was something with Transformer on it. So I sat down with my sister-in-law and figured out what they liked. My brother-in-law had an image of a Autobot/Decepticon icon that he loved, so we decided to try to recreate it. Since it was my nephews cake and his parents wanted to help in the making of it. I had his dad help in the placing of the image, that way it was just how he liked it. His mom designed and cut out the lettering for his name. We had a lot of fun making this cake. I was just happy to see that Zaden loved it!

Kit Kat Cake
My family tries to do monthly Birthday parties. We had our July party on the 3rd of July. I wanted to do a fun cake that everyone would enjoy. I once saw a picture of a Kit Kat cake and made mental note to one day try making it. This was a white cake with chocolate buttercream frosting, Reese Peanut Butter cup filling, Peanut M&M's on top, and with Kit Kat's on the outside. I choose to do white cake to cut down on the richness, I didn't want to overpower, those who were not chocoholic's. I thought the cake needed some spaze, so I added the stars shooting out the top, like fireworks. I made all of the sup cakes for everyone to have individual cake to blowout.

Chandler's Rockband
My Dad volunteered me to make this cake. I was in the middle of making the wedding cake at my parents house, when my Dad informs me that my brother wanted a cake the day after I finished the wedding cake. My Nephew Chandler was turning 9 and was having a Wii Rockband party. Chandler said that he wanted anything that went with Rockband. I didn't want to do the basic white guitar, a little to boring for me; so I goggled different guitars for the Wii. When I found this one I loved it. I had to free hand it, so the neck of the guitar wasn't perfectly straight, but besides that it turned out really good.
