Mae's Flower Power Cake

I decided to make this cake the same night that I finished the guitar and Roses cake. I had leftover fondant and buttercream, I just had to make the cake. My original plan was to stack the two cake at an angle. Little did I know that the cake had to be 4in in difference to do that. So I did this as a backup plan. I went a little overboard on the flowers., but Mae loved it. It was the right cakes for her. I put chocolate flower mints on the sides and top of the two cake, these were a huge hit with every one. They loved it!

For my niece's 15th Birthday. She wanted a six layer chocolate cake. She was have a fancy dinner for her party and wanted a cake to go with it. She loves guitar and said she would like something to do with them on the cake. I wanted to learn how to do the Wilton rose out of Modeling Chocolate. I decided to do guitars and roses for her cake. I had only once worked with fondant before and it was pre-made Wilton. I decided to make Chocolate marshmallow fondant for this cake. It turned out great and tasted so yummy!

Thomas the Train

My son has his birthday at the Ogden Train Station. I needed to do another train cake for his party, but I wanted it to be different from his cousin's train cake. So, I made him a a Thomas version. This cake was a huge learning experience for me. I was the first time that I really carved a cake. I made a lot of mistakes, but I thought it turned out really good.

Train Cake

My sister and I worked on this cake for my Nephew's 3rd birthday. I was a huge success with the kids and the adults. They loved eating all the candy off it during the party. We did this cake very simple and used canned frosting. Something that I would never do now!

The begining

I decided when I had my first child that I would make a special birthday cake for each of my children on their birthday. I remember making that first cake and how much I seemed to enjoy it. When my son's 2nd birthday came around I made him a Go, Diego, Go cake for his party. I loved making it s much that I ended up making him a Dora the Explorer cake too. I even let him help in making these cakes. I think that he enjoyed it as much as I did. From this point on I started making cakes for other family members. I love making cake and want to share my love with others.

Blue's Clues Cake

It is the paw print from Blues Clues t.v. show. This was my first time to ever use butter cream and boy did I learn a lot. I had used just regular food color, which I now know is a big no no. I didn't even think of putting the cake on a board or even wrap this one with tinfoil. I should have taken more than one photo of it and at different angles. The only thing that mattered to me at the time was that had made a cake for little boy and that he loved it.

Michelle's Sweet 16

The same day of Bryan's Graduation dinner, we celebrated Michelle's sweet 16. Since I was already making Bryan's cake, it wasn't a big deal to make Michelle one too. I did a very simple "16". This was my first time to ever shape a cake. I had a lot of crumbs and it was super messy.I used can frosting on this one and sprinkles too! I wrote "Happy Birthday", but you can't even tell, since it disappears in with the sprinkles. I used can frosting on this one and sprinkles too!

Bryan's Graduation Cake

When Bryan, my husband graduated from college I wanted to make him cake for the dinner we had after wards. I really didn't know what I was doing. I used canned frosting, because I had never found a buttercream that I liked. I use to think that can frosting was the only way to go. it is suppose to look like a graduation cap, so you have to look really hard. It might not look the best, but it sure did taste really yummy! i don't know if your suppose to put candles on this kind of cake, I did anyways and we sang to him too!
